Vijaya Ekadashi 2024: There is a tradition to worship Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi and observe fast on the Ekadashi date of Krishna and Shukla Paksha of every month. In the month of Phalgun, Vijaya Ekadashi fast will be observed on both the days of 6-7 March 2024, but keep the fast on the first day of household life. Vijaya Ekadashi fasting story
According to the legend, when Ravana abducted Mother Sita, Shri Ram planned to attack Lanka with the help of Hanuman and Sugriva. Ram ji left for Lanka along with his army. On reaching the sea shore, Shri Ramji saw the huge sea full of crocodiles and asked Lakshmanji that this sea is full of many crocodiles and creatures, how to cross it.
After listening to Lord Shri Ram, Lakshmanji said that Vakdalbhya Muni will definitely have the solution to this problem, he is the knower of Brahmas, only he can tell the solution for your victory. Shri Ramji went to the ashram of Vakdalbhya Rishi and narrated him the whole story. To overcome this problem of Lord Ram, Muni Shri asked him to fast on Vijaya Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month.
Sage Vakdalbhya said that for this fast, make a Kalash of gold, silver, copper or clay on the day of Dashami. Fill that Kalash with water and place Panch Pallava on it and install it on the altar. Place Satanja i.e. seven mixed grains under that Kalash and barley on top. Install a golden statue of Vishnu on it. On the day of Ekadashi, after taking bath, worship Lord Shri Hari with incense, lamp, naivedya, coconut etc. Spend the whole day devotionally in front of the Kalash and do jagran at night by sitting in the same manner.
On the day of Dwadashi, after taking bath on the banks of a river or pond, give that urn to a Brahmin. If you observe this fast with the generals, then Vijayashree will definitely choose you. Shri Ram observed fast on Vijaya Ekadashi and with its influence he won over the demons. Brahmaji had told Naradji that the devotee who listens or reads the greatness of this fast gets the fruits of Vajpayee Yagya.
